I don't appreciate it from them either. From Carter, I just think it's an attempt to stir the pot.

I think there's probably much more vigorous discussion, anger, etc. of Israeli government politics in Israel than in the U.S. simply because it's people criticizing their own government and society - which they of course know a lot about. I live in a very liberal town - Ithaca, NY - and there's pretty vigorous criticism of the U.S. government here, even to the extent of calling for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney.Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17626228106192215280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448657.post-41937475003796360202007-06-03T15:31:00.000-04:002007-06-03T15:31:00.000-04:00Correction: Carter has not been Southern Baptist f...Correction: Carter has not been Southern Baptist for some time. He belongs to a group of former SBs known as the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

The apartheid term was inflammatory, but, ironically, I have seen it used in Israeli literature, even in Ha'aretz. In fact, vigorous discussion, criticism, and even anger at Israeli government policies is far more common in Israel than in the U.S.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
